Blast Off to Big Sales Opportunity

While one of our Paris sales managers was traveling through the west earlier this year, she came upon a major airlines headquarters. Although Paris does not sell direct to end-users, our rep thought it would be the perfect opportunity to find out more information about the company. Based on what she would find out, the information could then be passed on to one of our customers as a potential sales lead.

It turns out that the building was the flight control center for the airlines and the receptionist was extremely helpful. Sometimes all you have to do is ask the right questions. Our sales manager was able to obtain the location of the purchasing department as well as name of the person responsible for purchasing paper. Now comes the persistence and perseverance part.

After several phone calls and follow-up e-mails to the purchasing manager, our sales manager, along with one of her customers from the region, was able to schedule an appointment. That meeting was four weeks ago and now our customer has secured a recurring monthly order for a custom-designed form used for membership communications in addition to a continuous form used for ticket processing. We are now even discussing a regular jumbo roll opportunity.
