New Legislation
The mandatory compliance date for state Medicaid scripts to be written on tamper-resistant prescription paper has been extended until April 1, 2008. President Bush signed legislation passed by Congress (HR 3667) to provide a grace period of this law, which attempts to make fraudulent prescriptions more difficult to obtain by enforcing the use of tamper-resistant scripts.
While this grace period gives doctors, pharmacists, healthcare providers and consumers more time to prepare for the new guidelines, demand for prescription paper is expected to remain high over these next few months. These circumstances present an excellent opportunity to provide customers with value-added security products to prepare them for the April 1 deadline.
Maximum Security Features
Prescription Paper (#04543) is the tamper-resistant and tamper-evident paper that so many customers are already selling to hospitals, pharmacists, and healthcare providers. This item is already authorized for usage in most states. Priced competitively, advanced security paper is designed to ensure authentication and to prevent and deter prescription forgery. With seven maximum security features, 04543 is the premiere paper on the market:
Void Pantographs are easily distinguishable in a blue-screened background. If the script is duplicated on a copier, the word “VOID” appears on the copy.
Heat-sensitive Thermochromatic Ink with red RX symbol is imprinted on back of document. When the ink is subjected to human touch or heat of a copier, the ink disappears.
Artificial Watermark prints “Prescription Security” in white opaque ink on backside of paper.
Coin Reactive Ink displays tampering with a simple scratch of a coin.
Toner Grip creates a more secure bond when laser print is applied to paper. Alteration is quickly identifiable because fibers embedded within the paper are destroyed on contact.
Chemically Reactive Paper prevents attempts to use chemical solvents to dissolve print due to an obvious discoloration of the paper.
Invisible Fluorescent Fibers are woven into the paper and will appear under a black light.
